Jesus'
pattern for making disciples is still effective!
Developing people involves helping people grow in each of the four stages.
 |
In stage one, Jesus demonstrated credibility and authenticity
allowing them to come and see His character, commitment, and compassion.
He was building a dynamic relationship with them by including them
in His circle of love with other believers, a commitment to membership. |
 |
In stage two, Jesus instructed them by teaching and example
in the basic disciplines of prayer, the Word, fasting, etc. He wanted
them to embody the values and character of the Kingdom so they could
achieve their God-given potential. He wanted them to commit to life-long
spiritual growth and maturity. |
 |
In stage three, Jesus helped the disciples to discover and develop
their gifts and calling. He did ministry with them, allowing them
to do ministry as apprentices. He involved them so they could find
their place and part in God's plan. He wanted them to commit themselves
to ministry. |
 |
In stage four, Jesus was preparing His disciples to own and advance
the mission. He wanted them to understand fully the objective
of the mission and the pattern for success. He was investing them
into the cause asking them to commit themselves to the mission. |
