Developing people has always been God's plan. Mankind was the
only part of God's creation that He created in His image. Man was the
only part of creation with whom God chose to have intimate fellowship
and relationship.
Adam and Eve, through disobedience, broke the relationship with God.
Each day, the Scriptures say, God would come and walk in the Garden
in the cool of the day to fellowship with Adam and Eve. When they sinned,
they hid from God and were ashamed. Their relationship with God and
each other had been forever damaged.
We see the desire of God for relationship with man when he comes to
the Garden but cannot find Adam. God's cry is, "Adam where are you."
Here we see the pursuing, searching heart of God. He pursues relationship
with us. This is the nature and character of our loving God.
The mission of God is to reestablish the broken relationship
between Himself and humanity.
Jesus came to accomplish the will of His Father. Jesus developed a
small group of men to become the foundation of the Church. He passed
on to them His Father's mission when He commanded them to "Go and make
disciples" (Matthew 28:19,20).
Jesus had a very intentional and specific strategy in developing people.
In approximately 36 months of ministry, He significantly and eternally
influenced the lives of the disciples who in turn impacted the world
for God.
Your church can increase its ability to build people and accomplish
the mission of God by understanding the strategy of Christ.
