Identify all of the ministry programs of your church and
the groups(s) to which they primarily minister.
Look at your church's ministries and the target audience of each.
This exercise will help you evaluate the degree of ministry your
church provides to each age-level. Ideally, churches offer a balanced
program that ministers to all people so people in each age level develop
in each stage previously discussed (Bases 1, 2, 3, and 4).
Identify your spiritual development ministries.
Evaluate your church's ministries based on their effectiveness in
assisting people to make commitments in the areas of membership, maturity,
ministry, and mission. Identify those that are designed to help people
grow spiritually at each of these four stages.
Focus on a single age level: adult, youth, children, or early childhood
as you undertake this process.
Identify the various commitment levels of the people in your church.
Use the Five Circles of Commitment and identify the number of people
you have in each circle. The goal of people building is to help people
move into a closer relationship with Christ and His Body, the local
church. It is the assumption of the WBP philosophy that increased
commitment to God and His Church will result in increased personal
and spiritual growth.
Identify major events/activities you can develop to move people
through the Circles of Commitment.
Jesus recognized that people were at various stages of commitment
to Him. There were the masses, the 70, the 12, and the inner circle.
He ministered to these groups in ways appropriate to each. His goal
was to help all people groups continue to grow spiritually. Identify
the strategies you will use to assist people in their move through
the levels of commitment to God and His Church.
